The
Indian Association of Long Island, New York, celebrated Valentine’s
Day at the Woodlands in Woodbury, Long Island, February 9. About
100 couples enjoyed dancing, dinner and games with a Valentine’s
theme. IALI, a 32 year old organization, has been organizing
year-round programs for seniors, youth, family and women. –

A Wedding gift in 1928 to Alyssa Mellon, the daughter of banker
Andrew Mellon, the Woodlands mansion, on 120 acres, still exudes
Old World Charm with its winding marble staircase, fireplaces
and French doors. The estate, which also has a golf course,
can accommodate as many as 350 people, thanks to a grand ballroom,
added four years ago, overlooking exquisite grounds. –

A
gentle touch of elegance, a dab of classic refinement, professional
service and the finest food you’d expect to find anywhere
in the exceptional kitchens of Long Island’s Gold Coast
compliment The Mansion and its glorious surroundings. –
The Long Islander
A sentimental favorite, this beautiful, romantic, Victorian
mansion hosts duffers’ dinners as well as catered events
amid the magnificent scenery of the Oyster Bay Golf Course in
Woodbury. – Zagat Survey 2007

Imagine dining in total darkness. That’s what will happen
when, on May 17th, Dark Dining Projects serves dinner to blindfolded
guests at The Woodlands, One Southwoods Road, Woodbury. A four
course meal, paired with wines, will be punctuated by performances,
between courses, by various artists. Diners are encouraged to
unravel the mysteries of the menu. – Joan Reminick, May
2007. |
